BIOL 1100

This course begins a comprehensive study of human anatomy and physiology, specific to the needs of health information practitioners. It emphasizes the structures and functions associated with healthy human systems, providing a bridge for concurrent learning of the pathophysiology associated with human disease (BIOL 1200). An overview of the levels of organization of the human body is followed by the study of the chemical basis of life, the cell, cellular metabolism, and tissues. The focus then shifts to body systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular (blood, heart, peripheral vascular), lymphatic, and digestive.
