St. Lawrence College dedication ceremony – installation of canoes

St. Lawrence College (SLC) will hold a dedication ceremony for two canoes created for the college by Algonquin Master birch bark canoe builder Chuck Commanda, from Kitigan-Zibi, Quebec. The ceremony will take place on Monday, April 15 from 3 to 4 pm in the new Student Life and Innovation Centre on the Kingston campus.

The installation is a tangible representation of the history of the Eastern Ontario region, as the college is situated on the traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe People. SLC is honoured to pay homage to and acknowledge this history.

3:00pm-3:20pm: Dedication ceremony and remarks, Student Life and Innovation Centre
3:20pm-4:00pm: Refreshments and smudging ceremony, Indigenous Centre
