Students from St. Lawrence College place second in CGA Ontario’s top student accounting competition


A team of two students from St. Lawrence College earned second prize during Certified General Accountants of Ontario’s Annual Case Competition.

John Carpenter and John Umunna came second in the full-day competition hosted at St. Lawrence College on March 24, 2012. Each winner received a scholarship for $1,000 into the CGA program of professional studies.

“It was exciting to watch this talented group of students from Ontario colleges compete during these demanding challenges,” said event organizer Michelle Paquin, CGA. “The scholarships awarded to top students will help them do more with their careers as they pursue a CGA designation.”

The winners, from George Brown College battled more than 20 teams from across Ontario during intense competitions in case preparation, social challenges and a quiz bowl. In total, nearly $10,000 in scholarships were awarded.
