Be a Good Virtual Neighbour

1. Act with kindness, we are all in this and learning together.

2. Ask for help! We are here to help support you. In fact, a whole team, your professors, and our college community is here to support you.

3. Take care of your mental health and wellbeing.

4. Stay connected with your professors.

5. Connect with classmates in a virtual way. Check out the virtual events on the UR SLC app.

6. SLC student services and supports are online! From digital library resources and peer tutoring to our academic support centre, we are here to help.

7. Help SLC online communities remain welcoming for everyone. Avoid posting or sending messages that use profanity, are discriminatory or insulting.

8. Become familiar with the SLC Student Code of Conduct so you know what is expected of you and what your responsibilities are. The Code of Conduct can be found on your SLC.me page under Academics>Student Code of Conduct Policy.

9. Pause before you post. Take a moment to proofread your writing for spelling and grammar before posting on online, submitting an assignment, or sending an email. Knowing your audience will allow for clear communication and avoid misinterpretation.

10. Don’t be a bully! Cyberbullying can take many forms: personal insults, excluding others from academic discussions, posting pictures without someone’s permission, gossiping and discussing others online, posting offensive content, cyberstalking, trolling, and many others. Help keep everyone safe and feeling like we all belong.
