It astonishes me that 4 years ago, I picked up my life and moved from Manitoba to Ontario to pursue Music Theatre. Once I was finishing my first year in Ontario, I had no idea where I'd end up... No idea I'd spend the next 3 years in a small town with one Starbucks. And thank god I did. St. Lawrence College's music theatre program welcomed me in with open arms. I'll never forget waking up to my acceptance e-mail and thinking: They believe in me. This place and these people have not made me who I am... They've made me figure out who I am. They gave growth to the woman that I've always been, deep down. My faculty supported every crazy idea I had. Even though this was a Music Theatre "Performance" program, they helped me realize that I can do so much more than just perform. They've helped me be a theatre person, with many hats. Their constant advice, generosity and enthusiasm made me realize my true value in this industry. For that, I can't thank them enough. I will spend the rest of my career thanking them. Then there's the students. My classmates (alumni included), my friends, my SLC family. There is no place like SLC, and there is no family like the one that we've created for ourselves. MuTh is forever. I will not forget the ways that you all have impacted me. At Old Faces, our faculty honoured me with the Leadership Award, for which I am very humbled. A leader is nothing without people who believe in and support their ideas. Thank you to the entire SLC family for always supporting and trusting me.
