2016-05-19

Bronze and Gold Medals at 2016 Provincial Skills Comp

After winning the gold medal at the Provincial Skills Competition on May 2 in Waterloo, ON, gold medal winner Anne Matiowsky will compete at the national level on June 6th and 7 in Moncton, NB. As well, Carley Cain won the bronze medal. The students competed in the areas of advanced facial, body treatment, massage, makeup and manicure with art design.

In the past eight years, students from St. Lawrence College have consistently stepped up to the podium to win gold, silver, and bronze medals, according to Diana Boboti-Senis, program coordinator of the Esthetician program.

“The fact that we have won the gold medal eight years in a row at Ontario skills competition is an excellent testimonial to the quality of our program and how well it prepares our students for their career in esthetics.”

“Winning the gold medal at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition was such an amazing experience!” Anne said. “It was so fulfilling to know that I could exceed my highest expectations. It helped that I was very well prepared; my instructors did such an amazing job to help me better my techniques. Without their help I wouldn’t have the chance to compete at the National level. I feel well prepared to begin my career in this field.”
